Tax season often means a headache for many people, but for local residents who cannot afford an attorney, the W&L School of Law provides assistance. Those who find themselves at odds with the Internal Revenue Service or the Virginia Department of Taxation can receive free help from the school’s tax clinic.

Nearly 20 local children to perform ‘James and the Giant Peach’ and ‘Into the Woods’ at VMI's Gillis Theater.
“James and the Giant Peach Jr.” will be at 7 p.m. on Thur. and Fri.
Older students will perform “Into the Woods Jr.” at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Sat.
For more than 30 years, Hoofbeats has offered therapeutic horseback riding to children and adults with physical, emotional and developmental challenges.
The program uses horses and adaptive equipment to create a safe, encouraging environment.
Attendance has climbed at free community dinners hosted by Rockbridge Connect and Nourish.
Families say the meals help them stretch tight budgets during the holidays.
